Official Bio:

Paul Novak is president of Novak Media, Inc., a Rochester-based firm which focuses on creating radio and TV campaigns. He earned his professional credentials creating advertising for 'win or die' political campaigns. The lessons proved invaluable and for the last 20 years he's been refining and applying them to advertising for businesses, non-profits and yes, political campaigns.

For broadcast campaigns, Paul is usually the hands-on writer-director, as well as an expert media buyer. When a team is needed to get the job done, he chooses from a wide array of creative and production professionals with whom he's established relationships over the years.

A native of New York's Hudson Valley, Paul is a graduate of the University of Buffalo. He worked for the state legislature and then-Governor Mario Cuomo, before veering into the advertising business. He's been an executive board member for the Rochester Boys and Girls Club and the Coalition for Common Sense in Education, as well as a trustee at Geneseo State College.

A member of the American Association of Political Consultants, Paul regularly guest lectures at colleges and universities on advertising in the public and political arena. For some reason, he can recite the name of every American President, in order, in less than 20 seconds. Paul is an avid ping pong player, contra dancer, musician and amateur photographer.

Unofficial Bio:

Why did you choose this career?
I was really bad at math and chemistry.

Favorite food?
Anything Italian

Favorite song?
“Two Trains Running”

Favorite movie?
Dr. Zhivago

Favorite book?
Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett

Favorite recreational activity?
Certifiable movie and news junkie. My kids and home life keep me busy while not at work or mainlining. I set aside regular time to nurse  regrets for trading a mint Fender Precision Bass in 1975 for 175 bucks. I also (think it's nice when other people) hike, decode software, collect coins and travel to Antarctica.

You think the world would be a better place if:
Cats were forbidden. Or if “cat people” got help.

The most profound thing you've ever heard or seen or experienced is:
James Brown in concert.

It would surprise people to know that you:
were the tallest kid in my 8th grade class. (I'm just under 5' 11” and shrinking now.)

Besides (branding / marketing / writing / directing, etc.) your other passions are:
Guessing what the eventual retirement age will be raised to in order to “save” Social Security. (My official estimate: 89)

Suddenly blessed with a day off and no limitations of time, space or cash, you would:
Visit Key West for lunch, chartered fishing and live reggae.
